The Awkward Dance

Michael MackintoshMichael Mackintosh

I'm cleaning the deck outside when I notice a large box.

It has been there for some time, and somehow I haven't noticed it. Some package from Amazon. I vaguely recall what is inside. But at this moment, it seems pointless and ill-conceived.

I go to the back of the house and find another box containing something I don't want and don't need.

There are other boxes in the car.

Now the dance must begin, and I don't really want to do it right now.

At some point tomorrow, or this week, I will have to sit down, log in, find the orders, press the buttons, print the labels and drive everything back to Whole Foods.

I will exchange pleasantries with the person standing there.

I will buy stuff I don't properly need, because I'm in there anyway.

And leave.
